Are You a Licensed Roof Contractor?

A contractor license is different from a business license; you need to specifically ask for the former when inquiring. Licensed contractors will have no problems providing their license information upon request.
Do You Have Proper Insurance?
Contractors in the building industry must have coverage for accidental property damage and bodily injury, in the form of liability insurance and workers’ compensation. Legitimate contractors will be happy to provide you with a copy of their insurance certificates. Do You Have Homeowner References?
One of the best ways to gauge the workmanship of a particular roofing company is to speak with their prior clients. Don’t be shy to ask for at least three recent references, and make the effort to call all of them. If they happen to be in your area, ask if you can drop by and see the roofing work for yourself.
Do You Have a Physical Location?
A contractor with a showroom, or at least a brick-and-mortar location, gives you the opportunity to get to know them by speaking with them personally. This makes it easier to decide later if you’d be comfortable hiring them. A local contractor with a physical location is also more likely to be family-owned with an established reputation in the local community.
